Visit “Jobs for Students” (www.cuny.edu/studentjobs) today, the new CUNY employment opportunities initiative aimed at helping students obtain part-time and full-time work and internships. Through special arrangements with the United States Census Bureau, the New York State Civil Service Commission and Unified Court System, New York City’s 311 Customer Service Call Center and many other organizations and agencies, students can apply for jobs to help meet the costs of attending college and to gain invaluable professional experience.

Library Donation in Celebration of Dominica’s 30th Anniversary

dominica-flagAfter allowing time for attendees to return from the huge celebration in Dominica on November 3rd, CCNY also celebrated the 30th anniversary of independence with a literary program on Thursday, November 13.  Dominica’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Crispin Gregoire, kicked off the festivities, and CCNY Vice President for Enrollment Management, Celia Lloyd, presented Asst. Dean & Chief Librarian Pamela Gillespie with an array of works by Dominican authors. Many thanks to Prof. Herbert Seignoret for making all the event arrangements.

Titles received include: “A Visitor’s Guide to Kweyol,” Ras Mo’s “tjebe/hold on” CD, “Rain on a Tin Roof,” and “The Island Man Sings His Song.”  All eleven titles are now being processed and should be available for use shortly.

Part-Time Position Opening

The Libraries curate and install exhibitions scheduled throughout each year. We are looking for a part-time person to join our exhibits team.

Qualifications:
•    Good design sense and attention to detail
•    Experience with layout and design
•    Expertise in Adobe InDesign (or Quark) and Photoshop in a Mac environment
•    Printing/plotting experience
•    Not afraid of power tools
•    Adept at measuring and cutting
•    Good communication skills

√    15-20 hours per week
√    salary commensurate with experience
√    good fringe benefits
